Road closures in city centre and Salford during rush hour this evening

16 Feb 2017

Thousands of French fans will be escorted to Manchester United's Old Trafford ground this evening for the AS St Etienne’s Europa League clash with Manchester United

Police are closing main roads in the city centre and Salford to march thousands of AS St Etienne fans towards Old Trafford for the Europa League clash with Manchester United.

Drivers and commuters are being urged to plan their journeys home this evening, with a rolling road block being enforced between 4pm to 7pm while fans are marched en masse to the match.

AS St Etienne fans will be assembling at Shambles Square, before walking to Old Trafford via Trinity Way, Chapel Street, Oldfield Road and Ordsall Lane.

Transport bosses are advising drivers to use a different route if possible or to travel home at a different time.

Bus services will also be affected by the road closures and passengers should expect delays to journeys.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) have produced a map highlighting the hotspots to avoid as fans make their way to Old Trafford.
