Hello, QUIZ it me you're looking for?

24 Aug 2016

Colleagues in the School of Biological Sciences are organising a quiz night in the Students' Union to help fund essential treatment for an MS sufferer

Could you give Jeremy Paxman a run for his money? Would you beat John Humphrys in the Mastermind chair? Fancy yourself as the next Stephen Fry?

Put your money where your mouth is and join us for “Hello, QUIZ it me you’re looking for?” on Thursday, 1 September (6.30pm) in the Student’s Union.

The quiz is being hosted to raise vital funds for Tim Thomson, who has MS and is deteriorating rapidly. He believes his only chance of improvement now is to have a Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transfusion (HSCT). HSCT is currently not available to him in the UK, so TIm has made the major decision to travel to Mexico to have the treatment.

The quiz will be held by The International Man of Quizzing – Dr Diederik De Cock - with a top prize of £50 bar tab to spend at the Students' Union and prizes for the best (or worst!) team name.

Tickets will be £3 per person, and there can be up to five people per team.

In addition, there will be raffles on the night, with prizes including a cheese and wine hamper, some bottles of booze and other tasty treats!

Do come along and support this fantastic cause!

Tickets and further information

Tim has started a blog to show his current condition and to follow his whole journey to Mexico and through the treatment, in order to help others with MS to decide whether HSCT is the treatment for them:

The treatment is going to cost a huge amount of money and to help with raising funds, TIm has set up a crowd funding page.
