Robot Orchestra to open Europe’s greatest scientific gathering

From five-year-old primary school children to pensioners who've been tinkering away in their garages, Manchester has been crowd-sourcing an orchestra.

An amazing machine built from the city's imagination, it is a gathering of 'electronic brains' that has turned everything, from old floppy disk drives and desk fans to the violins and woodwinds of classical music, into a modern melody.

This robot orchestra is to perform at the opening ceremony of the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), Europe’s greatest scientific gathering, which celebrates Manchester’s role as European City of Science 2016.
