Wellbeing programme shortlisted for National Lottery Awards Best Health Project

Manchester Museum

A wellbeing programme at Manchester Museum and Imperial War Museum North (IWM North) has been shortlisted for National Lottery Awards Best Health Project.

And you can help them win by voting for this worthy winner on the National Lottery Awards website.

The programme – if:Volunteering for Wellbeing – is an exciting volunteer training and placement initiative led by Manchester Museum and IWM North.

Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, it runs a ten-week training course using the unique collections and spaces of IWM North, Manchester Museum or Museum of Science and Industry to develop communication, interpersonal, teamwork and customer service skills.

Participants learn about their chosen Museum, volunteer roles – and gain nationally-recognised qualifications.

One volunteer said: “The programme has given me so much confidence, inspired my desire to learn and renewed my enthusiasm for life as a result.”

Another agreed: “Has the course changed my life? Yes and more. It has actually given me back my life, a life seemingly lost to lack of hope and depression.”
