DSE celebrates another year of outstanding contributions by staff

13 Apr 2016

The third DSE Outstanding Contribution Awards ceremony took place on 25 February and saw 125 colleagues from across the Directorate come together to celebrate achievements from the last 12 months

DSE DOCAs 2016

The Directorate for the Student Experience Outstanding Contribution Awards, or the DOCAs as they have become known, were established as part of the University’s Reward and Recognition Scheme, and are one of the ways in which the DSE recognises and celebrates staff and their contribution to the Directorate and to the University.

In many cases, this year's award winners were 'unsung heroes' whose work was not known to colleagues outside their immediate team. There was a real sense of celebration to the afternoon and a pride in the work that takes place right across the Directorate.

One attendee commented "It was lovely to see how much work and commitment is carried out by our colleagues in other areas of the DSE - it was a proud day for us all."

The DSE Staff Survey Action Group had the impossible task of judging the 27 nominations – with everyone deserving recognition and thanks for their contribution. Eventually five teams and 12 individuals emerged as the winners of the DOCAs 2016. Everyone who was nominated received a personal letter of thanks from Tim Westlake, Director for the Student Experience; winning individuals were thanked with an extra day of leave and the teams will be organising celebration events of their choosing.
