Data, data everywhere... celebrating the Q-Step Summer Internships 2015

13 Nov 2015

On Friday, 20 November at The Whitworth Art Gallery (1-5pm)

Two weeks after the University was ranked 3rd in the UK and 24th out of 150 globally in the Global Employability Rankings, the University's Q-Step Centre will be holding an event to celebrate the success of the Q-Step Summer Internships in 2015. It is time for the students of the Q-Step 2015 cohort to shine and to discuss, display and reflect upon their internship experiences.

Q-Step is a £19.5 million programme designed to promote a step-change in quantitative social science training. Over a five-year period from 2013, 15 universities across the UK are delivering specialist undergraduate programmes, including new courses, work placements and pathways to postgraduate study.

Data, data everywhere ... will bring together host organisations, members of the Q-Step team, senior management from the University, prospective employers and Q-Step alumni in the convivial setting of the Grand Hall in the award winning Whitworth Art Gallery.

The students will be talking about the paid work they did with the organisations that hosted them - ranging from City Councils to Government Departments, a bank (Santander) to The World Bank, third sector groups, social enterprises, think-tanks, polling and market research organisations as well at the BBC and The Times/Sunday Times.

The Centre is keen also to get externals along to this annual event, so please share news of this event with your networks. Last year the roundtable event was a huge success, so they are repeating it with more employers and students this year.
