Transgender Day of Remembrance

18 Nov 2015

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is marked annually on 20 November in memory of those who have been killed as a result of transphobia

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Gender reassignment is one of nine protected characteristics covered under the Equality Act - the University ensures that all Trans* staff and students are treated equally and does not tolerate any form of transphobia.

We will be marking TDOR in a number of ways in 2015:

  • The flying of the Trans* flag in University Place;
  • Launch of updated Guidance for Supporting Trans* staff and students;
  • Relaunch of the Gender Neutral toilet campus map;
  • Information session about supporting Trans* staff and students.

The information session takes place on Thursday, 19 November at 12.30pm. It will look at definitions, the new guidance and work done by the University. Invited speakers from the organisation Sparkle will discuss the practical issues facing staff and students who are transitioning. The session will be of particular use to people with line management responsibilities.
