Mark's Manchester 100 mile bike ride

24 Aug 2015

Mark Foster from FLS will be taking part in the Manchester 100 bike ride on 13 September to raise money for The Christie Charity

In 2013 Mark's cousin was diagnosed with bowel cancer, which did not respond to treatment, and he died in February 2015. Mark, who had taken up cycling again in 2012 after a ten year gap, set himself the challenge of taking part in the Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride in July to raise money for The Christie charity.

Mark said "I finished the ride in 5 hours 8 minutes but was unable to raise any sponsorship. After completing that ride, I decided to tackle the Manchester 100 and have been in training for it since then."

Competitors can choose to cycle 100 km or 100 miles: Mark has chosen to cover 100 miles. Starting and finishing at Wythenshawe Park, his route will take him out of Manchester and through the stunning Cheshire countryside of Northwich, Middlewich and Delamere Forest.

He added "If anybody would like to sponsor me it would be very much appreciated."
