DSE celebrates outstanding contributions by staff

24 Mar 2015

The Directorate for the Student Experience Outstanding Contribution Awards, or DOCAs as they have become known, were established as part of the University’s Reward and Recognition Scheme

DOCAs 2015

The DOCAs are one of the ways in which the DSE recognises and celebrates its staff and their contribution to the Directorate and to the University.

At the second DSE Outstanding Contribution Awards ceremony on 26 February, 120 colleagues from across the Directorate gathered to celebrate achievements from the last 12 months. In many cases, award winners were 'unsung heroes' whose work was not known to colleagues outside their immediate team. There was a real sense of celebration to the afternoon and a pride in the work that takes place right across the Directorate.

One attendee commented: "The nomination itself is fantastic recognition for the work of the team - and to actually win an award was wonderful."

The DSE Staff Survey Action Group had the impossible task of trying to judge the 31 nominations – with everyone deserving recognition and thanks for their contribution. Eventually five teams and 12 individuals emerged as the winners of the DOCAs 2015. Everyone who was nominated received a personal letter of thanks from Director Tim Westlake; winning individuals were thanked with an extra day of leave and the teams will be organising celebration events of their choosing.
