Staff cricketers return to the crease - why not join them?

10 Mar 2015

Following last year's run to the cup semi-final and the agonising defeat by just three runs, The University of Manchester Staff Cricket team is preparing to do battle again

Lead by their inspirational skipper, David Butler, the team hope to eclipse last year's efforts. They play in the Manchester Professionals League, which is made up of teams from various businesses in and around Manchester and is played at club grounds usually within the M60. Games are played on weeknights and are equivalent to a T20, lasting about three hours.

There are some quirky rules which help to keep the time down and the controversy out of the game. The standard is very much social and while there are some club cricketers, the majority of us are either reliving glory days or trying to create them.

Interested in joining the team?

This is social cricket at its finest where we give our all on the pitch and enjoy the camaraderie off it. It is a great team to play for, so if you’d like to join our merry band, please email:
