Spring 2015 at Contact

08 Dec 2014

January – March 2015 at Contact

Contact is the national contemporary arts organisation that places young people’s decision-making and leadership at the heart of everything. Young people 13+ work alongside our staff in deciding their programme, making staff appointments and sit on their Board. The result is a remarkable, diverse and exciting programme for everyone – whatever your age.

Spring is festival time at Contact!

Queer Contact, the annual celebration of LGBT arts and culture, is the largest to date. It includes the fabulous New York performer Justin Bond and British soul singer David McAlmont. It also features new Contact commissions from Kate O’Donnell and Eggs Collective.

That’s followed by SICK! – working with the NHS, Universities and clinics, it showcases major international artists exploring pressing issues of health and wellbeing. The centrepiece at Contact is the remarkable and moving show from India – Nirbhaya – that has become internationally renowned for tackling the issue of violence against women. Their new young company show, Sexology, directed by Stacy Makishi, is also part of the SICK! programme.

The rest of the season includes renowned theatre maker Tim Crouch, Liverpool’s fantastic 20 Stories High, comic Gina Yashere and rising star of the dance world, Aakash Odedra, in his first Contact visit – catch him while you can.
