Volunteers from all levels of staff sought for Schools and Colleges Liaison Team

22 Sep 2014

Volunteers from all levels of staff are sought to join the Schools and Colleges Liaison Team, a collection of PSS and academic staff who support the delivery of recruitment-focused outreach work in schools and colleges

The aim of this outreach work is to support the University’s provision of information, advice and guidance to young people and their teachers, and to promote the University as a study destination.

Members of the Schools and Colleges Liaison Team can choose to support this outreach work in two main ways:

  • by attending Higher Education Conventions which are held around the UK, aimed at Year 12 students making initial enquiries
  • by delivering presentations in schools and colleges on general topics to do with the Higher Education admissions process

Benefits to staff include developing presentation and interpersonal skills, gaining knowledge and understanding of key recruitment issues, and helping the University fulfil its obligations to the wider community.

If you would like to know more, please come and meet members of the Schools and Colleges Liaison Team at a drop-in on Tuesday 7th October at University Place Foyer, between 12.30pm and 1.30pm. The team will be setting up a stand in the foyer and current volunteers and staff from the Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Team will be available to answer questions about the volunteer opportunities.

All members of the Schools and Colleges Liaison Team attend a compulsory training session before attending events off campus. This training will be held on Wednesday, 15 October, 10.30am to 12.30pm.
