Free Home Bike Servicing until the end of July

Bike in the garage or shed and not seen daylight for a while? Would like to ride it but haven’t got the time/knowledge to fix it up? We can help.

The Corridor Manchester partners are offering a FREE home bike service competition aimed at those that want to cycle but their bike needs a little TLC! All you need to do is email cycling@mmu.ac.uk and explain in no more than 200 words why you deserve to take part.

Successful staff members will then be contacted by a local mobile cycle mechanic who will arrange a time and date to get your bike feeling happy again.

If you cannot access email call 0161 247 2989 to enquire.

NEW Road Ready Rider Course at the University on 20 July

Are you a fairly confident off-road or recreational cyclist but not so sure about cycling on the road?

This course is designed to meet the needs of those looking to take the next step.

The course takes place with qualified instructors in a safe, off-road environment and lasts around two hours.

Road Ready Rider can help you with:

  • Preparing yourself and your bike for cycling on the road
  • Effective starting positions
  • Starting off, pedalling and stopping with control and consideration
  • Controlling the bike, use gears and manoeuvre safely around objects
  • Communicating with others
  • Looking all around and behind, and control the bike with one hand
  • Share space with pedestrians and other cyclists

Bikes and helmets will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

A morning and afternoon course will be held outside University Place, Oxford Road on Sunday 20th July.
