A new way to say ‘thank you’

27 Jan 2014

A new staff recognition scheme has been launched - as a direct result of the feedback you gave in the Staff Survey 2013.

You make Manchester

The scheme features a range of innovative ways in which staff can say ‘thank you’ to each other for work well done, as well as giving greater freedom to managers to recognise the hard work and achievements of their staff.

The Thank You scheme features:
  • An online card which any member of staff can send to a colleague to say thank you
  • Printed thank you cards – if you would prefer to send a more personal handwritten note
  • Managers being given discretion to arrange events or gifts for individuals or teams to recognise achievements and successes
The scheme can be used by any member of staff at the University and is just one of a range of ways in which our staff can be recognised and rewarded.

Karen Heaton, Director of Human Resources at the University said: “We’ve listened carefully to the feedback from the Staff Survey and have come up with a scheme which everyone can use whatever their job or wherever they work.

“This new scheme will work alongside our existing reward and recognition initiatives like the Rewarding Exceptional Performance scheme and the various awards which run across the University,” she added.

Staff without web access at work can pick up printed cards from their unit manager and send them to any colleague across the University.

The scheme will be monitored on a regular basis to ensure that it’s being used consistently across the University, and will be reviewed after a year.
