Praise for the University Language Centre

04 Dec 2013

The University Language Centre (ULC) has been ranked 2nd in the UK for its English Language courses in the recent EL (English Language) Gazette.

This listing looks at language centres in universities ranked in the top 200 worldwide according to the Times Higher, and scores are calculated by adding 70% of the Times Higher ranking, plus extra points if the centre is accredited by BALEAP (British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes) and by the British Council, as well as 0-10 points based on the Centre's last inspection report from the British Council.

The Centre came second to University College London.

This ranking is with respect to the full-time year round English language courses, pre-sessional courses, part-time courses and Insessional/academic support courses for international students that ULC runs. The Centre has also been classed as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ by the EL Gazette every year since 2010 for the same provision.
