Information for all staff about upgrade to Oracle Financials system

21 Oct 2013

The University is currently carrying out an upgrade of its Oracle Financials system to a later version (R12), with the final phase due to start later this month, and Oracle Financials will therefore not be available from 1pm on Wednesday, 30 October until Wednesday, 6 November*.

This will not only affect users of the system, who will have no access during this time, but will also mean that any other systems which normally source financial information from Oracle Financials will not be able to do so. The Oracle project team is working with the owners of all of those systems of which we are aware to ensure that the consequences of this are managed appropriately. If you have any concerns about further interfaces of which we may not be aware, please contact the R12 Project Management Team.

In addition, no new BAS Access requests for the Oracle Financials system will be granted between Wednesday, 23 October and Wednesday, 6 November, as roles and responsibilities within the BAS system are being updated for R12.

Once the upgrade has been completed, the availability of the system will be communicated to all users.

*As a result of the recently announced industrial action, the go live date for R12 technical upgrade will now be Wednesday 6th November (one day later than originally communicated).  We will endeavour of course to deliver the upgraded system on 5 November, but this can no longer be guaranteed due to the potential unavailability of resource.

For any questions on the R12 upgrade, please contact your Finance Operations Manager (FOM) in the first instance, or a member of the R12 Project Management team.
