Schools and Colleges Liaison Team

The Schools and Colleges Liaison Team (SCLT) is a collection of academic and PSS staff who support the provision of information, advice and guidance to young people, and who promote the University as a study destination.

In order to meet growing demand from schools and colleges, and to continue to strengthen our relationship with key feeder schools, we are looking to like to grow the pool of PSS staff involved in the delivery of this activity.

Team members can choose to support this outreach work in two main ways:

  • by attending Higher Education Conventions, which are held in key population centres across the UK, and aimed at Year 12 students making initial enquiries about higher level study;
  • or by delivering presentations and workshops in schools and colleges on general topics related to the Higher Education application process.

In addition to being an enjoyable and worthwhile undertaking, being part of the team presents personal and professional development opportunities, such as developing presentation and interpersonal skills, gaining knowledge and understanding of key recruitment issues, and helping the University fulfil its obligations to the wider community.

Team members will be supported through regular training and information sessions and be given the opportunity to shadow more experienced members of staff.

Whilst mindful of the demands on colleagues working at School level, we would greatly appreciate your support in identifying staff across all PSS functions with the skills and enthusiasm to support this initiative. Whilst many activities do take place during core work hours, there are also opportunities to support early evening events.
