Are you ready for your close up?

Be part of Clifford Owens’ Photographs with an Audience (Manchester, 2013)

In May 2014 Cornerhouse will present an exhibition by New York-based performance artist Clifford Owens. Working across the media of performance and photography, Owens’ practice is rooted in participation and audience engagement.

One of the new works will be Photographs with an Audience (Manchester, 2013), and the Oxford Road gallery looking for participants to take part in this project.

People from across the city are invited to join the artist in a large room, where they will respond to improvised situations – with Owens acting as ringleader and provocateur. The resulting photographic documentation will be displayed in the exhibition.

No skills or training are required and there will not be any preliminary sessions. This is an opportunity to take part in a completely improvised, unpredictable environment, where the level of individual engagement may be small or great. The event is likely to test boundaries and levels of risk.

The photo shoots will be held on Tuesday 15 October and Wednesday 16 October, 6.30pm-8.30pm.

Please note that not everyone photographed will appear in the exhibition.
