2014 Distinguished Achievement Awards

02 Oct 2013

Nominations invited by Friday, 7 February 2014

The University of Manchester

The 2014 round of the Distinguished Achievement Awards has just opened.

Faculties will be co-ordinating nominations in the following categories:

1. Teacher of the Year
2. Researcher of the Year
3. Undergraduate Student of the Year
4. Postgraduate Student of the Year

Please note that category 4 is open to both PGR and PGT students for this round. However, the Awards and Honours Group has given its approval to a proposal that separate categories are introduced for PGR and PGT students. The PGT category will operate to different timescales and under a separate process.  Full consultation will shorlty be taking place within the Faculties about its implementation, with a view to the inaugural PGT Distinguished Achievement Awards being conferred in the 2014 December student graduation ceremonies.

Faculties and all individual members of staff are also invited to nominate colleagues under the:

5. Professional Support Services (PSS), Library and Cultural Institutions Individual and Team Distinguished Achievement Awards

If you would like to nominate an individual or a team for PSS, Library and Cultural Institutions’ Award, please refer to the guidance:

All staff are also able to nominate in the:

7.  General category of the Distinguished Achievement Awards

The General category is to be used only when the other categories of awards are not appropriate. In such cases, a member or staff or a student can be nominated.  The General category is designed to recognised sustained and/or exceptional service to the University which is over and above what it normally expected of someone as part of their job, role or course. Retiring staff members or retiring lay members of the Board of Governors might be examples.
