Put your BEST foot forward

31 Jul 2013

The Manchester Branch of the British Science Association is launching BEST, a new biotechnology business competition for teams from schools and colleges in Greater Manchester.

The idea is for year 11-13 teams to think of a brand-new idea for a ‘pretend’ biotechnology business, which they’ll have to pitch to the BSA Dragon’s Den style panel of scientists and entrepreneurs. The winning team will be the one that convinces the judges that their idea is the one that could really work.

Teams will also be invited to a special half-day biotech workshop where they will be able to hear from scientist and business people, who will share their experiences of how a scientific concept can become a business.

If you know of any teachers/schools who might be interested, please send them the details or, if you are a year 11-13 teacher who would like to know more, please email:

Colleges and schools interested in entering teams must first register with the BSA by 25 October 2013.
