Facilitator wanted for North West People in Research Forum

15 May 2013

This is an exciting opportunity to facilitate an initiative that supports patient and public involvement (PPI) and public engagement (PE) in health and social care research across the North West.

The North West People in Research Forum is a membership organisation that supports researchers to involve and engage patients and the public in health research and supports patients and members of the public to get involved.

The Forum wishes to appoint a Facilitator, who will:

  • Support the Forum Executive Committee and Working Groups in taking forward the aims of the Forum;
  • Encourage and support links between researchers and patients/public;
  • Promote and facilitate the sharing of learning about PPI/PE;
  • Support and grow the Forum network, which includes both individual and organisational members.

This role is part-time and will be undertaken on two days per week.  The job is a Band 7 pay scale.  The Facilitator will need to be able to work independently and to manage his or her own workload.

The role requires experience of and commitment to PPI/PE in health and/or social care, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to build effective working relationships with patients/public and ‘professionals’ and to handle the sensitivities of working across a number of organisations and groups.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with existing experience of PPI within the NHS, research community or voluntary sector to expand their experience through work within a regional organisation with national significance.

The opportunity is being offered for one year with the possibility of extension. The Facilitator could be based anywhere in the North West but would need to be able to travel across the region.  The role is offered as either a secondment or fixed term appointment.

Applications for this post will close once sufficient applications have been received.
