IT Know How: Clear IT out and recycle

08 May 2013

IT Services operates a central reuse and recycling facility for redundant IT equipment. Now is a great time to ‘spring clean’ and get rid of any old equipment or peripherals you may have lying around.

All equipment collected by IT Services is re-used, recycled or disposed. Equipment is returned to the IT Services Recycling Facility where it is first checked and assessed for its suitability to be re-used elsewhere on the campus. Suitable items are checked for faults, have all data securely wiped and are cleaned ready for re-issue.

Any equipment not suitable for re-use is disposed by University’s contractors, who ensure we meet our commitment to Waste, Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations and that all electronic information is securely destroyed.

Do you have any of the following lying around?

  • Mice
  • Keyboards
  • PCs
  • Monitors
  • Laptops
  • Fax machines
  • Printers
  • Cabling and accessories

If so, you can arrange collection of your redundant IT equipment by contacting:
