03 Nov 2020
Manchester is one of six institutions participating in a pilot project to support the discovery and impact of open digital collections.
This collaboration will benefit the research and teaching community as well as collection owners.
Other participants are: National Library of Scotland, University College London, British Library, University of Sussex and University of Glasgow. Manchester has contributed three unique and significant collections:
- Nashriyah - Digital Iranian History: Covering defining moments from three significant eras.
- Bulletin of the John Rylands Library: Showcasing our Special Collections with multi-disciplinary articles.
- Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Race Relations Resource Centre Collection: Pamphlets and reports published by the Centre for Racial Equality charting the changing debates, policy and practice of race relations in the UK during the CRE’s lifespan (1976-2007).
These collections are now available on the JSTOR website completing the first phase:
The second phase will investigate the benefits, impact, and opportunities revealed by the use of the collections for digital scholarship and public engagement.
The pilot will run until August 2021.
