Completion of network installation – weekends of 3/4 June and 17/18 June
31 May 2023
Final works to improve network connectivity will be taking place across the Third to Sixth Floors of Engineering Building A
The final phase of the network installation programme to provide additional data to some research areas is underway. There will be activity in the following locations on two upcoming weekends in June:
Date | Workspace area |
---|---|
Saturday, 3rd June and Sunday, 4th June | Sixth Floor, Core 4 |
Saturday, 17th June and Sunday, 18th June | Third Floor, Core 1 West Fourth Floor, Core 3 East and West Fifth Floor, Core 3 East and Core 4 East |
Contractors will cordon off small areas as work progresses, to minimise disruption as much as possible. If you’re working in these workspace areas during the above dates you may be asked to temporarily relocate for around one hour if your office/desk is in close proximity to where installation is taking place, to ensure your personal safety.
If you’ve made arrangements to work in Engineering Building A on any of the above dates, you may wish to consider working from home or, where this isn’t possible, making alternative workspace arrangements. These include:
- Fourth Floor quiet working room (Room 4A.059A, Core Four) – 22-person capacity;
- Fifth Floor quiet working room (Room 5A.050, Core Four) – 22-person capacity;
- Meeting rooms of varying sizes available to book via Resource Booker.
Colleagues receiving the network upgrade have already been contacted and will receive further communication in the coming weeks after network testing for the new floor boxes has been carried out and these connections are activated and ready for use. This is expected to take place by mid-July.
