Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Partner

Kathy joined the team in September 2021 and partners with Emma Flint and Carol Platts and FHUMS.  Prior to joining the EDI team, she was the Fairness, Inclusion and Respect Partner at J Murphy & Sons and prior to that the EDI Officer at Cheshire East Council. 

Kathy won Cheshire East Council’s Making a Difference Award for Brighter Future Team of the Year in 2018 celebrating the work that she and her team did on organising the first Pride in the Park event which took place in the same year.  She then went on to move the event from Tatton Park to Crewe raising the profile of LGBTQ+ residents who were facing rising levels of hate crime in the town at the time. 

Kathy lives with Ankylosing Spondylitis and Rheumatoid Arthritis and is a cancer survivor which has made her a passionate advocate for people living with disabilities and health conditions.  Her lived experience will inform and benefit her role as EDI Partner for Disability including supporting the work needed to elevate the university to Disability Leader status.
