Our compliance responsibilities

As an institution, we comply with the Public Sector Bodies - websites and mobile applications - Accessibility Regulations (PSBAR) 2018.

These regulations provide the most effective way for us to demonstrate that we are meeting digital accessibility responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010.

How do we comply?

We follow the latest version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2). These internationally recognised guidelines are endorsed by UK Government, and we use them as our benchmark for good practice in design, development, and content creation.

If we all have understanding of these guidelines, we can make sure that our digital products, platforms, and communications are consistently accessible, inclusive, and aligned with the University’s EDI strategy and values.

The WCAG standard also applies to many other working practices across the University, including procurement processes and working with external agencies.
