What is Zoom?

Zoom is a powerful, cloud-based audio/video conferencing, unified communications and meeting platform which is stable, highly secure and intuitive. It allows users to meet online from their desktop, laptop, mobile, tablet or telephone. Windows, Apple Mac, Android and IOS devices are all fully supported. The extensive features of the easy-to-use interface enable users to deliver presentations, share content, screen-share, collaborate on projects, perform demonstrations, and record meetings. Additional tools including document sharing and virtual whiteboards make it the perfect remote meeting application. Zoom is capable of much more and additional capabilities will be added in the near future.

Media Services of The Directorate of Estates & Facilities have extended their existing educational license used for the central Video Conferencing service. Now every member of staff at The University of Manchester has access to a professional license with Zoom. This gives the ability to host meetings of unlimited length and of up to 300 participants at a time.
