Background screening

Since 1 March 2016, all new members of staff and students using the BSF have been required to undertake a background screening process (undertaken by Agenda Screening Services). This change was a considered step following a number of successful infiltrations of animal research facilities elsewhere. The introduction of such an approach has been a prudent step towards allowing animal work to continue unimpeded.

This process applies to all staff (including honorary), PGR, PGT and Undergraduate students who require access to the BSF to conduct animal work.

The guidance documents below show how the screening stage fits within our existing processes and what you should do to initiate this.

If you have any queries as to whether or not screening is applicable to you or to your member of staff/student, please contact: bsf.licensing@manchester.ac.uk
