Learn more about Open Access at the Library’s events marking the annual, global event aiming at raising awareness of making research openly available

Open Access Week

Open Access Week takes place from Monday, 21 to Sunday, 27 October. It is an annual, global event aimed at raising awareness of Open Access among the academic community. 

The Library provides a range of support services to postgraduate researchers and academics to help them understand the different ways their work can be made Open Access and these will be highlighted during Open Access Week.

Colette Fagan, Vice President for Research, said:

"The University of Manchester is committed to supporting Open Research - open access publishing, code and data - so that our research and discoveries are easier to access, read and use.

Open Access Week is a great opportunity to promote, share and celebrate the great work being done across the University to make as much of our research openly available as possible. 

Do come along, learn what your colleagues are doing and how they are doing it, and find out more about the help and resources available so you can join the Open Research community!"

Choosing a Credible Journal: And how to avoid ‘Predatory Publishers’

Join this new workshop to find out how to decide where to submit your work for publication. Learn how to assess a journal using established criteria, and make sure you avoid publishing with so-called ‘predatory publishers’. Book your place here.

Open Research Showcase

1.30-3.30pm, Wednesday, 23 October

Roscoe Building, Foyer

Join the Library’s Open Access experts to find out more about making your research openly available. Enjoy a hot drink and a cake, help to increase the visibility of the University’s research in our Wikipedia edit-a-thon and play some Open Access games.
