University publishes ‘no deal’ Brexit risk register

22 Jan 2019

The University makes ‘no deal’ Brexit risk register available to staff

In the event that the UK leaves the EU on a ‘no deal’ basis on 29 March, we are aware that there could be significant disruption to some of our core activities.

In order to mitigate these risks, activity has been taking place to plan for possibility of a ‘no deal’ Brexit. To help our staff understand some of the work that has been carried out and our plans to keep our operations running as smoothly as possible we have today published the latest version of our risk register.

The document can be found at:

Senior staff from numerous areas of the University are involved in this process, with the work co-ordinated by the Compliance and Risk Office.

In addition the President and Vice-Chancellor has been a prominent part of a public campaign co-ordinated by the Russell Group and Universities UK to lobby government to mitigate the risks for the sector in the event of a ‘no deal’ exit from the EU. You can read more about this and listen to interviews on this StaffNet article from 4 January.

While the nature of the UK’s exit from the EU is not yet confirmed, we realise that this is an uncertain time for staff, particularly those from the EU, and we are determined to do everything we can to support you and ensure that our University’s operations are disrupted as little as possible, whatever the outcome of the Government’s negotiations.

Further information for our staff regarding Brexit can be found on StaffNet.
