Our bicentenary
The University of Manchester is a phenomenal, world-changing institution with a history of brilliant discoveries and social impact that has shaped the modern world. We’re proud of our Manchester origins and the city is integral to our success, but our influence is felt across the world.
In 2024 we’ll celebrate our bicentenary: 200 years of education and innovation. During this significant milestone, we’ll reflect on our impact and recognise the achievements of our people – staff, students, alumni and partners – at a local, national and international level.
This is a moment to celebrate our key discoveries and world firsts, while continuing to look forwards and outwards. The world’s big challenges demand urgent action now and we’re working across boundaries and disciplines to create healthier, more equal futures and to protect our planet.
Collaboration lies at the heart of our community and we’re actively engaging with staff, students, alumni and our stakeholders to shape our bicentenary plans, celebrating contributions of all sizes and the values that make them feel proud to belong at Manchester.
