Was your childhood stressful or traumatic?

Description

NHS Ethics approval number: 221196

We are currently recruiting volunteers for a research study on emotion and decision-making in individuals with a history of early life stress. The study involves computer tasks (to be completed on a laptop and iPad) that examine how people respond to emotional words, faces, pictures and rewards.

You are potentially eligible if:
·         You are between 18-65 years old
·         You had stressful or traumatic experiences during childhood
·         you have never been diagnosed with any neurological or psychiatric illness

Participation involves 1-2 visits (times are flexible depending on your preference) at the University of Manchester (Neuroscience and Psychiatry Unit, Stopford building). You will be asked to complete a short structured interview where we will talk about how you’ve been feeling recently, some experiences you may have had, and your medical and mental health history. You will also be asked to complete some questionnaires and perform some computer-based tasks about emotion and decision-making as well as memory, learning and attention. Participation involves up to 4.5hours.

If you are eligible and participate, you will be compensated for your time.
