Are you feeling depressed or down? Volunteers needed for research study on emotion and decision-making in depression

Description

NHS Ethics approval number: 221196

We are currently recruiting volunteers for a research study on emotion and decision-making in depression. The study involves computer tasks (to be completed on a laptop and iPad) that examine how people respond to emotional words, faces, pictures and rewards.

You are potentially eligible if:

• You are between 18-65 years old

• You have been feeling depressed, sad or down for the past 2 weeks (or longer)

• You are not currently taking any psychiatric medication

Participation involves 2-3 visits (times are flexible depending on your preference) at the University of Manchester (Neuroscience and Psychiatry Unit, Stopford building). You will be asked to complete a structured interview where we will talk about how you’ve been feeling recently, some experiences you may have had, and your medical and mental health history. You will also be asked to complete some questionnaires and perform some computer-based tasks about emotion and decision-making as well as memory, learning and attention. Participation involves up to 5.5hours.

If you are eligible and participate, you will be compensated for your time.
