New research into listening effort and listening related fatigue

Description

Ethics ref: 2017-2602-4215

Are you aged 18 to 30 and a native English speaker?

We would like to offer you a free hearing check and the opportunity to take part in our research study. The aim of our research is to develop a new measure for the assessment of listening difficulties in individuals with hearing impairment.

If you decide to take part, we will invite you to our hearing lab on Oxford Road, where we will:

  1. Test your ability to hear quiet sounds

  2. Test your ability to hear speech in background noise

  3. Take some measurements from your hands and scalp using stick-on sensors

The whole process takes about 2 hours. Psychology students will be compensated with credits at the standard rate for this type of research.
