General information

We are responsible for planning, performance review, management information, data analysis and a number of strategic projects.

Our principal activities are:

  • development of the University’s strategic plan, Manchester 2020;
  • the University’s planning and accountability cycle, including Annual Performance Reviews (APRs) and operational priorities;
  • the work of the Planning and Resources Committee (PRC);
  • planning processes within the Professional Support Services, including PSS operational priorities;
  • statutory reporting: submitting the University’s student HESA and HESES returns, and a number of other statutory requirements;
  • student number planning and associated resource allocation;
  • management information: the production of a range of student-related management information, including 1 December student profile, SSRs, non-continuation and widening participation data;
  • benchmarking data against other institutions through league tables, cost centre comparisons and performance indicators;
  • analysis of a range of student based data to produce research that is used in formulating strategic and operational plans and policy;
  • co-ordinating a number of strategic projects, for example teaching and learning dashboard.
