Support for managers

As a leader or manager you’ll be asked to host team sessions in your area of responsibility so that staff have the chance to get involved and develop their own Big Idea.

To make it as simple as possible to involve as many people as we can, you’ll have flexibility about how you run these team sessions. You can either run two separate sessions – the first being an introductory session giving colleagues an opportunity to think about the University here and now and the second session being where you will generate your Big Ideas.

If you would prefer to run one extended team session where you cover both present and Big Idea generation, that’s fine. Whatever works best for you and your team.  The Faculty of Science and Engineering have produced some guidelines about running a single session.  You can find these at:

If you have regular team meetings you should plan to use these in September or October to run your team sessions. If you don’t have a regular team meeting, you should look to arrange a session and let your team know about this.

Here are some guidelines to help you plan your team sessions.

To help support you during Our Future we have a network of trained Our Future advocates – University colleagues who can help and advise you during September and October.

There are other ways for your team to get involved in the conversation about our future, whether it be at Big Idea Events or individually online.
