18 Oct 2017

Dr Olga Onuch awarded the Political Studies Association (PSA) new entrant Bernard Crick teaching prize

Dr Olga Onuch (Ola), Lecturer in Politics in the School of Social Sciences, has been awarded the Political Studies Association (PSA) new entrant Bernard Crick teaching prize.

Ola was nominated by her colleague Dr Paul Tobin. The judging panel saw evidence of:

  • students actively engaging in learning that challenges and supports them to develop their knowledge and skills in political studies;
  • the nominee successfully addressing an obstacle in the teaching of political studies;
  • teaching that is effective and has successfully been shared with colleagues in the discipline.

Ola said: “I’m humbled that my colleagues nominated me for this award, and proud that my students find my teaching engaging.”

Professor of Politics Francesca Gains added: "Many Politics staff members were nominated for awards by our students last year and in a year when Politics has risen in both the Guardian and Sunday Times league tables, it is marvellous to see the commitment and innovation of Politics staff to teaching being recognised both within the University and in our professional association."
