1 December is #GivingTuesday - the day when Manchester Gives More!

24 Nov 2015

The University is playing a leading part in Manchester Gives More - this year's regional campaign to mark the global day of giving next Tuesday

Manchester Gives More

The University is helping to mark the second year of #GivingTuesday in the UK by playing a prominent part in the Manchester Gives More campaign to make our city the most generous in the UK:

On this global day of giving, which follows Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Manchester Gives More is a call to action to everyone in Manchester to give to charities or causes around the city that they care about.

Charities, businesses, school and individuals can all get involved - by making donations, volunteering time or just spreading the word at the start of the Christmas shopping season.

Last year, we took part in the UK's first #GivingTuesday and our work has helped to form the basis of a toolkit on the official website:

This year, we'll be marking #GivingTuesday as follows:

Making a Difference Fair
1 December 2015 (9.30am-3.30pm), Renold Building

The North Campus is hosting its very first Making A Difference Fair, which will give staff and students the opportunity to find out about voluntary and ambassadorial activities across a host of different areas of interest. The University’s Social Responsibility Initiative seeks to encourage everyone to ‘Make A Difference’ in whichever way they can.

Come along and discover a variety of organisations from both inside and outside the University: Green Impact, Governors for Schools and Engineers without Borders are only some of the organisations that will be showcasing a variety of opportunities.

Staff and students will have the chance to explore the different options available and chat to representatives from the organisations about how they too can ‘Make A Difference’.

#GivingTuesday Fair
1 December 2015 (10am-6pm), Students' Union (staff and students welcome)

Manchester RAG, Student Action, Access All Areas and a variety of Volunteering and Fundraising societies in the Students' Union will have four stalls inside and outside of the Students' Union.

On the day you will be able to find out how to get involved in fundraising or volunteering through the Students' Union.

There's a Quiz you can take part in on the various projects and challenges with an array of prizes up for grabs! You can also come on down to get your photo taken and showcase what wonderful things you've been doing for others in our #GivingTuesdayAlbum.
