Mentoring is a powerful way of learning a variety of personal and professional skills.
A mentor's role is to support and encourage the growth of the mentees sense of responsibility for their own learning and development.
This is facilitated through:
- Career Management, helping to create opportunities for new learning opportunities which could help the mentees progress
- Self Reliance, this helps the mentee to take responsibility for themselves, their careers and development
- Support-listening, encouraging and helping mentees to develop self confidence
- Action learning - helps the mentee to acquire knowledge, skills and understanding by sharing experiences
