Submitting your fellowship application

The next available submission deadlines are:

  • Thursday 22 November 2018
  • Thursday 28 March 2019
  • Thursday 18 July 2019

Applications should be submitted by email to leap.cpd@manchester.ac.uk by 11:59pm on the dates above.

Please note that applicants are no longer required to complete a notice of submission before submitting their application.

Important information

  • Please note that the assessors will stop presentations at the relevant cut-off time noted above.

Required documents

Applicants submitting via the oral presentation route should include the following documents as part of their application:

  • Copy of PowerPoint slides with accompanying notes
  • Two supporting references – applicants for Principal Fellow should include a third reference from a colleague external to the institution. Further information about references can be found in the LEAP References Guidance.
  • Mapping exercise - please see below for downloadable templates and further guidance
  • 1 x A4 handout (optional)

Written portfolios (all pathways)

Important information

  • References and the mapping exercise will not be included in the word count.
  • Please note that assessor's will not consider any portfolio that is more than 10% over the maximum word limit.
  • The breakdown of words between your introduction and case studies is flexible.
  • We recommend that your introduction is no more than 500 words.

Mapping exercise

The mapping exercise enables you to clearly demonstrate where your experience maps to each relevant criteria of the UKPSF. All applications should include a completed mapping exercise.

The mapping exercise should be brief and signpost the assessor’s to pages in your written portfolio or slides in your oral presentation where you have evidenced against each specific criteria. The mapping exercise is not included in the overall word count for the written portfolio.

  • Those applying for Associate Fellow should map their experience to Descriptor 1 of the UKPSF. This should be no longer than two sides of A4. 
  • Those applying for Fellow should map their experience to Descriptor 2 of the UKPSF. This should be no longer than three sides of A4. 
  • Those applying for Senior Fellow should map their experience to Descriptor 3 of the UKPSF. This should be no longer than four sides of A4. 
  • Those applying for Principal Fellow should map their record of educational impact to Descriptor 4 of the UKPSF. This should be no longer than five sides of A4.
