Awarding panel gives Manchester bid its highest 'A' rating

NIHR Stamp

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) has awarded the Faculty funding for 20 Integrated Academic Training (IAT) posts for 2019.

This includes six NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship (ACF) posts and three NIHR Clinical Lectureships (CL) posts awarded as part of a competitive bidding process, plus 11 posts allocated by formula to participating institutions.

The awarding panel gave the Manchester bid its highest ‘A’ rating, confirming that the Faculty met or exceeded criteria in all areas assessed, commenting:

“An exemplary application structured in a very professional manner.  Manchester has a very complex programme, and the approach is to be lauded. Trainee progression is good; the IAT programme is well run; and support is excellent. The fellowship academy supports trainee development, which is a nice touch. There are good links with BRCs and infrastructure. Manchester uses a competitive process for re-bidding for posts, ensuring high quality.”
