Message from the Dean

20 Jul 2018

Ian Greer thanks friends and colleagues for their support

Professor Ian Greer

This is my last newsletter as Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty, so I would like to take this opportunity to set out my sincere thanks to you all for the support and fellowship that I have enjoyed while working with you over the past years.

It has been a privilege to lead the Faculty particularly through a time of such significant change. We have a fantastic Faculty in BMH, with much success to be proud of and many exciting opportunities to deliver. Not only continued success in teaching, research and social responsibility, but also considerable impact both locally in Greater Manchester and globally.

Our present and future success is only possible through good team-work across academic and professional services, across Schools and Faculties and across Institutions and sectors.  I am particularly proud of our ability to work collaboratively, a characteristic that will stand us in good stead for the challenges that lie ahead in the UK Higher Education sector.

I am especially grateful to the Faculty Leadership Team whose commitment, endeavour and effectiveness is fundamental to our success. Professor Peter Clayton has already picked up the leadership baton; and I know that Peter will make a significant impact on the current challenges and ensure that the Faculty is ideally positioned – strategically, operationally and financially – in advance of Professor Graham Lord, your new Vice-President and Dean, who will be taking up post in the New Year.  Graham will be a superb a leader and I am sure that he will enjoy working with you all in a new phase of development and success for FBMH and the University of Manchester.

Thank you once again for all of your support and please accept my best wishes for much continued success in the future.

Ian Greer

Vice-President and Dean
