The Manchester Health Agenda

13 Jul 2017

Notes on the first panel discussion

Professor Kay Marshall, Head of the School of Health Sciences, has chaired the first panel discussion in ‘The Manchester Health Agenda’ event series from The Health Services Research Centre, for alumni and friends of the University based in London.

Professor Marshall was joined by Professors Fiona Devine, Paula Hyde, Deborah Price and Honorary Professor at Alliance Manchester Business School, Peter Folkman at the British Medical Association to discuss the need for social innovation in care for older people.

Professor Marshall said: “This event was the perfect opportunity to discuss recent headlines around how we look after older members of our society with prominent academics.

The audience participated in a lively and diverse Q&A, discussing workforce, training, standards of care and of course its affordability, the impact of Brexit and the role of the wider community in looking after itself and its people.”

The Health Services Research Centre, based at Alliance Manchester Business School, is a leading research centre in the study of health services organisation, management and leadership, research implementation and policy. The Centre is looking at how health practitioners and academics can work together to improve health and social care for all.
