Director for the Student Experience

Simon Merrywest appointed to the role from 1 October 2017

Simon Merrywest has been appointed as the Director for the Student Experience with effect from 1 October 2017.

Simon has worked for the University for 13 years and is currently the Director of Faculty Operations for the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health and was previously the Director of Faculty Operations for the Faculty of Life Sciences. He has a first degree in Anatomical Sciences from Dundee and a PhD in Neurobiology from St Andrews.

Simon will take over this position from Tim Westlake who, as has previously been announced, will move to be the Chief Operating Officer at the University of Sussex at the end of July.

In the short period between Tim’s departure and Simon taking up the role, Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer Will Spinks will work with senior colleagues in the Directorate for the Student Experience in order to ensure a smooth transition.
