FBMH hosts first Technical Skills Day

05 May 2017

Technical Operations Managers, Lisa Grady, Sarah Gumusgoz and Rachel Watkins have hosted the first Technical Skills Day in FBMH with over 100 delegates attending.

The event provided staff and students, from both FBMH and FSE, with a chance to learn new skills and network within the wider technician community.

The day was made up of seminars on Immunohistochemistry,  including a talk from Dr Janet Bewsher on, “Analysis of immune check points with antibodies; the importance of validation” and 12 trade stands from University preferred suppliers of scientific products and services who provided information and demonstrations on new products and technologies.

Sarah Gumusgoz, Technical Operations Manager, said:

“The aim of the day was to increase scientific knowledge of Immunohistochemistry, the background of this topic and the advancing specialised techniques such as 7-plex fluorescent tyramide labelling chemistries.

It was a great turn out. Thank you to everyone who helped organise such a successful event.”
